  Die Karte wurde um 1587 erstellt von einem unbekannten Zeichner als eine verkleinerte Kopie der Karte, die Drake 1581 für Königin Elisabeth I. angefertigt hatte. Letztere ist verbrannt, die Kopie damit die älteste Karte der Weltumsegelung von Drake mit The Golden Hind. Diese Karte zeigt die Route der Weltumsegelung 1577–1580 mit einer hellbraunen Linie und die seiner Karibikreise 1585–1586 mit einer dunkelbraunen Linie.

• Sebastian Cabot (1476/84–1557), Venedig
  Nach eignem Bezeugen habe er an den Nordamerika-Expeditionen seines Vaters 1497 und 1498 teilgenommen; von ihm selbst handschriftlich auf einer erhaltenen Karte (mappemonde) notiert, die 1843 in Bayern gefunden wurde online ¹⁾, die allerdings das Jahr 1494 nennt, vermutlich ein Übertragungsfehler.
  • Nach eigenen Expeditionen 1508 und 1509 bis in die Hudson Bay arbeitete er mit anderen Kartographen an der Padrón Real, der geheimen Weltkarte der spanischen Krone, die die Basis für Expeditionen bildete.
  • 1541 beauftragte er zwei deutsche Drucker (Lazaro Noremberguer (= Lazaro Aleman, Lazaro Cromberger) und Gabriel Miçel) mit dem Druck einer Weltkarte, von der ein einziges Exemplar erhalten blieb (s.o.).
